Chess for Schools has its own store of chess boards, pieces and timers (clocks) should a school not have any of its own.

Typically we would bring our own boards, pieces and clocks dependant on the requirement. A typical club would have 10-26 members and therefore 5 to 13 sets would be needed to service that club. A class would probably require 13 sets or more.

We would recommend Staunton Pattern chess pieces rather like these:

We would encourage schools to obtain at least six chess sets and a couple of robust (DGT) timers. We recommend DGT timers as the build quality is second to none as is their after sales service and support. The best model for children is the DGT “Easy Timer” as they are built for robustness and at a lower price than say the DGT 2010 or XL. We would advise against old style analogue clocks as they to be demolished fairly quickly!
